Floral Designer (Experience Required)
You will fill daily orders in a timely manner: open orders and wire-service recipes, prom work to funeral work and all traditional occasions and holidays. Experience with silk/artificial a plus. You will also engage customers on the phone and the floor for our combined floral and gift shop. You must be computer literate and type comfortably as you will take orders into our POS system. As we are a small team, you will be co-responsible for all aspects of running a flower shop: processing shipments, handling customers, helping to keep the store and work areas clean. You will work a minimum of every other Saturday and need to be available for overtime during busy holidays and events. We offer competitive wages depending on experience and overtime. Customer-facing staff are required to practice standard sanitizing procedures. This is a fast-paced and busy shop but there's always time to smell the flowers and enjoy working with this amazing product.
Attention to detail is a must.
Knowledge and Skill Level: Ability to use calculator to calculate discounts, tax and totals, Ability to type (minimum 30 words per minute) and write legibly.
Has a sound understanding of the elements and principles of design, construction techniques, pricing, communicating with customers and co-workers, and managing time pressure and work flow.
Floral designers take responsibility for completion of general tasks, maintaining a clean work area and tools, providing technical advice and support for co-workers, and maintaining a specific assigned area of the shop.
Designers can solve problems by selecting and applying basic methods and tools. Designers work with some independence under a Senior Designer or the Floral Manager.
All Candidates for this position MUST be available to work every other Saturday and to work overtime during Valentine's week and Mother's Day week. Overtime is paid at time and a half.
