The purpose of this job/class within the organization is to manage and administer the operations of planning and development within the City. This job/class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.
Coordinates with citizens, design professionals, board and committee members, and developers on planning and development related issues. Prepares data and reports and makes presentations, as needed. Assists in supervising department staff members for report writing, analysis, plan review, and presentations. Develops and reviews policies for the City in coordination with the Planning Director, City Manager, and City Attorney; uses analytical and critical thinking and makes sound recommendations based on a range of land planning experience. Serves on committees and boards as a member of Deltona government and attends meetings towards the advancement of planning projects. Maintains current knowledge of government regulations and local ordinances; incorporates an array of planning concepts and objectives into policies, decisions, and work products. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires five (5) years of experience in municipal planning and development or closely related experience, accompanied by a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience. Supervisory experience may be substituted for progressively responsible planning and project management experience.
