Planning Director directs and oversees the patient service planning function for a hospital or healthcare system. Performs analysis of trends in healthcare and makes recommendations for new services or changes in existing services. Being a Planning Director supports feasibility analysis and new program planning. The Planning Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Assistant or Associate Director of Gift Planning

  • UVA’s Office of University Advancement seeks candidates for an Assistant/ Associate Director of Gift Planning. The Assistant/Associate Director will represent the University of Virginia, its programs, policies, personnel, traditions, philosophy, and objectives to all constituent groups. The primary focus of this position will be to cultivate relationships with individuals (alumni, family, and friends of the University of Virginia) to actively solicit future support, deferred gifts, and major outright gifts to the University, its schools and units, and its programs.

    The Assistant/Associate Director will be responsible for managing a portfolio of planned giving prospects and developing a comprehensive solicitation and stewardship strategy for the portfolio and any assigned liaison relationships. The liaison role includes working closely with assigned schools and units to provide planned giving prospect lists, to attend team/staff meetings as appropriate , and to coordinate efforts to increase planned gifts.

    The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

    • Identify , qualify, and cultivate UVA planned giving prospects using prospect lists for in-person visits, emails, and phone calls.
    • Provide sample bequest language and life income gift calculations (e.g., charitable gift annuities) as needed to actively solicit planned gifts from their portfolio and liaison relationships.


    This position requires an ability to travel frequently on behalf of the University and participate in occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education: Bachelor's degree
    Experience: Three years of related experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    A t least three years of planned giving experience is preferred . Candidates with experience as a financial planner, trust officer, or estate planning attorney will also be considered.
