Plant Accounting Manager manages all financial control and accounting activities of a plant including general and cost accounting, payables/receivables and payroll. Ensures the plant's financial control processes and systems comply with company policies, applicable regulations, and provide required information. Being a Plant Accounting Manager monitors plant operation results against operating plans and direct the preparation of financial, production output, and other reports used to measure and control plant activities and costs. Leads the plant financial and capital budgeting process. Additionally, Plant Accounting Manager recommends and implements programs to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs. May require a CPA. Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Plant Accounting Specialist is responsible for recording and maintaining plant records in conjunction with the work order closing process; and provides back up support for the Purchasing Coordinator.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Internal Responsibilities — Works collaboratively with the Accountant II and other cooperative staff to ensure cooperative plant accounting and work order records are accurately recorded and completed in a timely manner.
External Responsibilities — Communicates with external federal, state, and local agencies related to reimbursement billing and grant reporting. Assists in coordination of make- ready invoicing with cooperative telecommunication partners.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education — Associate degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience — Minimum three (3) years of experience in accounting required. General electric utility experience will be considered in lieu of accounting experience. Experience in procurement and inventory related fields a plus. Experience in general utilities, contracting or construction is preferred.
Certification/License, etc. - Certificates and/or licenses relevant to utilities, purchasing, accounting or inventory control are preferred. Satisfactory completion of CFC Work order course required within six months of position. Valid Tennessee Driver’s License or ability to obtain license prior to first day of employment is required. Must be eligible to remain insured as a driver by the Cooperative’s group liability policy for the automotive fleet.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — An understanding of the electric utility industry and accounting desired. Ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the work order process flow used by an electric utility. Must be analytical and detail oriented. Must have ability to learn multiple software systems. Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.
