Plant Accounting Manager manages all financial control and accounting activities of a plant including general and cost accounting, payables/receivables and payroll. Ensures the plant's financial control processes and systems comply with company policies, applicable regulations, and provide required information. Being a Plant Accounting Manager monitors plant operation results against operating plans and direct the preparation of financial, production output, and other reports used to measure and control plant activities and costs. Leads the plant financial and capital budgeting process. Additionally, Plant Accounting Manager recommends and implements programs to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs. May require a CPA. Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Plant Accounting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Plant Accounting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Performs basic clerical accounting duties involving routine calculations, verifications, and postings, to process or compile financial data or records according to standard procedures and methods, which are applicable to virtually all transactions encountered. Makes simple adjustments with the appropriate concurrence of a supervisor. Posting Posts accounting information where the identification and location of postings are clearly indicated. Reconciling Reconciles bank accounts. Refers discrepancies to higher-level personnel for assistance. Classification and Coding Performs routine classification and coding to appropriate transaction accounts. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 1-3 years' accounting experience and/or training, preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word software. Knowledge and experience with 10-key adding machine. SAP experience (preferred). Excellent attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong communication skills, written and verbal. Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment. Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment. Work Environment & Physical Demands The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The majority of the time is spent in an office setting outside of the production plant. The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
