Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. Summary:
This role is a direct report to General Manager and a member of the plant leadership team for our Hebron, KY surface technology plant that supports the aerospace, defense & energy industries. The Plant Manager has the responsibility for the overall production operation. This includes all aspects of day-to-day production operations.
Major Responsibilities:- Leadership and management accountability regarding the operating costs to budget, safety, quality, on-time delivery, and the people needs of the plant (both areas including Aero and Specialty Coating)
- Participate in the development and execution of a strategic growth plan.
- Directs activities of the production leadership team sets priorities for day-to-day production, and maintains appropriate staffing as needed to meet company goals.
- Responsible for shop production schedules and conducts production meetings including supervisors’ meetings working closely with Customer Service and Account Managers.
- Ensures customers’ needs are appropriately met by shipping to schedule with minimum turnaround time and a high degree of quality.
- Responsible for enforcing the company handbook and communicating with the Office Manager and/or Human Resources on people's needs.
- Responsible for ensuring the safe operation of equipment, and safe work habits of the employees, and administering the safety program within the guidelines established by the company.
- Ensure both state and federal environmental regulatory requirements are maintained along with maintaining the Environmental Management System
- Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
- As a Senior member of the Site Leadership Team, takes an active and leading role in implementing and promoting the site 6S initiatives, taking full ownership of his/her area(s) of responsibility and driving compliance to established standards.
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:- This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements. Therefore, candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent resident cardholders.
- Education – Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience with advanced training in operations, management skills, finance, metallurgy, thermal spray, quality, safety, and environmental management.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with thermal spray, or other aerospace processes to ensure success in the role.
- Experience in Change Management, driving operational performance through data-driven metrics.
- Ability to function as an effective team member through good communication and cooperation to meet plant goals.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; Must have excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritize workflow.
- Ability to guide, lead, and direct employee relation activities and communication meetings on all shifts.
- Must be effective in promoting and maintaining positive employee relations with a basic understanding of employment practices in a production environment.
- Minimum of three years of business management experience with two or more years in a supervisory role.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. Experience with ERP systems is required.
