Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. We have an opening for a Plant Manager in our Manchester, CT molding compounds plant.
General Purpose:
Directly manages and oversees plant operations including Manufacturing, Quality Assurance/Control, Maintenance, and EH&S. Dotted line responsibility for Human Resources, Finance, and Engineering. The Plant Manager makes decisions regarding productivity improvement, quality, and efficiency of operations either personally or through subordinates.
The Plant Manager uses analytical skills, judgment, objectivity, and persuasion to ensure the viability of critical decisions that impact capacity, growth, internal and external organizational goals. Must be able to analyze a great deal of information in a short time to make correct and timely decisions. When there is no reliable information, the Plant Manager must demonstrate sound judgment to make a decision.
The Plant Manager assists with planning, developing, and managing company policies to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal government regulations. This role must ensure compliance to all environmental, health, and safety regulations and stay breast of changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
This role relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan ad accomplish business goals. The Plant Manager performs a variety of complicated tasks including leading and directing the work of others using a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
