Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. Key Responsibilities: Service containers using appropriate techniques including handwork or manual work in accordance with established methods and applicable regulations. Manually installs, fits, repairs valves, caps, hoses, gaskets and other external and internal equipment on the container. Operates all necessary cleaning equipment such as high-pressure washer, air electrical and/or mechanical equipment, in accordance with operation training and guidelines and safety procedures. Maintain equipment in optimal working order and perform regular maintenance to maximize production. Moves containers around the yard as requested. Maintains good housekeeping and cleanliness in the container cleaning areas. Completes all applicable and appropriate paperwork. Practices safety procedures in accordance with training and guidelines when working. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired, but not required. Valid driver's license. Previous experience working outdoors, warehouse, or similar environment. Must be able to meet criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to follow instructions and perform duties under limited supervision. Ability to operate any equipment necessary to perform job. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports to accurately complete daily assignments. Ability to work in accordance with Company safety policies & procedures, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) requirements, as well as all local, state, and federal laws. Physical/Mental Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach and lift in an outdoor environment 90% of the time. Must be able to use hands and fingers, kneel, crawl, talk, hear, climb and balance. Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to manually lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to manually push/move up to 100 pounds with assistance from another employee. Working Conditions: Outdoors in varying adverse weather; low/high temperatures, wet and/or high humidity or sudden temperature changes.
