Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. **Responsibilities:**- Lead all aspects of the manufacturing plant's operations, including production, quality control, maintenance, and safety protocols, to ensure efficient and high-quality production of garage doors.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to optimize production processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality, aligning with Amarr's standards of excellence.
- Provide leadership and guidance to a dedicated team of supervisors, engineers, and production staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, supply chain, and sales, to streamline processes, address challenges, and meet production targets.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, to drive operational efficiencies and minimize waste.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze performance data, and implement corrective actions to ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and environmental regulations, maintaining a safe and sustainable work environment.
- Manage budgetary constraints effectively, optimizing resource allocation and cost control measures while maintaining operational excellence.
**Qualifications:**- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years in manufacturing
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience leading manufacturing teams of more than 50 people in a leadership role, preferably within the building materials industry.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies, with a focus on lean principles and continuous improvement.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with a results-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in budget management, financial analysis, and strategic planning.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing software applications is advantageous.
