Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. GENERAL DESCRIPTION- Manages and directs day to day plant operations
- Build and manage an effective staff within a moral and ethical workplace environment
- Ensures effective leadership within Staff by providing coaching, development, and training
- Monitor all plant departments and ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations
- Full operational/manufacturing cost responsibilities for the plant
- Develop budget and cost controls to ensure plant cost objectives

- Analyze and monitor production costs, efficiency, and overall quality performance
- Plan and direct production activities and establish production priorities
- Coordinate quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment
- Initiate problem-solving teams to minimize downtime throughout the plant
- Interface with customer and develop a good customer relationship and program development
- Review and analyze production, quality control, and operation reports to determine causes of non-conformity with product specifications and operating/production problems
- Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality, productivity, and efficiency
- Minimize labor/operational costs through the use of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement processes
- Formulate and arrange plans to update systems and reduce overall operating costs
- Monitors plant/process continuous improvement initiatives and follows through to completion
- Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale within plant to achieve positive results in all areas
- Maintain all environmental, health, and safety requirements throughout the plant (OSHA,NFPA, DEQ)
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS- 7-10 years Operations/Plant Managerial experience in a production environment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS- 4 year B.S in Engineering or related field
