Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Plant Manager has a key role in the region and will work closely with all teams to ensure an effective communication, plant safety, and positive outcomes for both internal and external customers. Our plant is not large in terms of personnel, so this is a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves role. Create and maintain an environment in which supervisors and employees can efficiently utilize their skills, fulfill their responsibilities and maximize their potential
Plan, organize, direct and run day-to-day operations
Oversee production schedules and the production control process to ensure timely delivery of customers’ products
Enhance and maintain quality systems and controls to ensure customer satisfaction
Manage employees time and attendance, work with HR to coach team and address issues timely and fairly
Monitors and enhance systems that ensure repair and preventive maintenance programs for equipment achieve maximum efficiency
Assist efforts to develop organizational capability via Human Capital processes including performance feedback, recruitment and selection, compensation management & performance recognition
Direct the efforts of plant supervision to ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and plant safety rules
Monitor, train and communicate safety and quality programs and assure compliance with policies and government regulations
Assist leadership with budgeting, production statistics, cost analysis, justification of capital expenditures and asset management, operate plant within budget requirements
Work with sales & marketing in developing an improving best practices
Key focus areas include safety, quality, delivery, new business development, cost improvement and organizational effectiveness
Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
10 years of related work experience, with at least 5 years’ experience in managing teams and projects; requires advanced technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines and processes
Comprehensive experience in manufacturing is required
Strong experience in building a culture of engagement and performance improvement
Demonstrate an Inspirational leadership approach to leading others
Track record of making decisions even when outside area of expertise
Must have high capacity to manage multiple priorities with a high balance of emotional control.
Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office, NetSuite, & UKG
Excellent written/verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Must be able to work well with individuals at all levels within the organization
Must be a self-starter and must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
Proven ability to perform work that is complex and varied in nature
Able to provide guidance/training to more junior staff, creates win- win situations
Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills and be highly visible in the Operation
Proven track record of success.
