Plant Operator

Our client south of Cedar Falls, IA is seeking to add a Plant Operator to their team. The Plant Operator assumes responsibility for the entire corncob processing plant operation during their designated shift.

The primary objective is to optimize plant efficiency, ensuring peak output and superior quality. This entails continuous monitoring of plant operating systems, conducting product quality assessments, executing routine maintenance tasks, and documenting operational data on the Plant Operator Shift report.

Additionally, the Plant Operator oversees and aids the on-duty toter and loader operator.

This is a Direct Hire role.

Reports to : Plant Manager

• What you will be doing as a Plant Operator…
• Prioritize safety with a "Safety First" mindset.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the processing plant's operation.
• Exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and actively listen to comprehend and convey shift-related information.
• Conduct quality checks, including bulk density, particle size distribution (Ro-tap), and moisture analysis.
• Safely operate forklifts, skid steers, end loaders, aerial lifts, and semi-trucks (limited to loading operations).
• Record load details when loading trucks.
• Complete tote reports.
• Ensure a clean work area through daily plant housekeeping at the end of the shift.
• Perform maintenance tasks and collaborate with the maintenance team.
• Record plant performance data.
• Inspect and document fire suppression system status.
• Undertake other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned by the Plant Manager.
• Skills you ideally bring to the table as a Plant Operator…
• Ability to stoop, bend, reach overhead, extend the upper body, and climb stairs / ladders.
• Safely climb up and down trailer ladders and end loaders.
• Ascend and descend a 6-step warehouse ladder (potentially up to 60 times / shift).
• Safely mount and dismount a forklift (potentially up to 100 times / shift).
• Lift more than 50 lbs. (non-repetitive).
• Work in challenging conditions, including exposure to blowing particulate matter and outdoor temperatures.
• Possess basic writing ability.
• Perform basic arithmetic functions (add, subtract, multiply, and divide using a calculator).
• Operate a computer process-controlled system.
• Operate equipment using both hands and both feet.

Hours you will be work as a Plant Operator

Days : 6 am – 6 pm, 4 days on followed by 4 days off
