Plant Manager directs a plant or production facility's overall operations. Sets and implements policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Develops and deploys manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant Manager develops and implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Collaborates with multi-functional plant teams, including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Leads or participates in labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant Manager manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Job Overview:
We are seeking a Production team member to join our company. This position will involve working in a wholesale perennial plant nursery environment performing various duties related to plant cultivation, care, and overall nursery maintenance. The ideal candidate will have experience in landscaping, gardening, or a similar field.
Duties:
- Assist with the cultivation and maintenance of plants in a greenhouse or farm setting
- Perform heavy lifting tasks, such as moving plants, soil, and equipment
- Irrigate plants and monitor moisture levels
- Utilize hand tools for planting, pruning, and harvesting
- Collect data on plant growth and health
- Operate machinery and equipment as needed
Experience:
- Previous experience in a greenhouse, farm, or landscaping setting is preferred
- Knowledge of plant care and cultivation techniques
- Familiarity with hand tools used in gardening and landscaping
- Mechanical knowledge for operating equipment
