Plant Manager directs a plant or production facility's overall operations. Sets and implements policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Develops and deploys manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant Manager develops and implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Collaborates with multi-functional plant teams, including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Leads or participates in labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant Manager manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Plant Manager typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Precast Manufacturing Company in Trenton MI needs a Plant Manager.

    Salary Range is $150k-$170k.

    Target Bonus 20%
     

    Looking for a strong Plant Manager out of either Precast or Building Materials. Looking for someone that is a strong leader and someone that can help drive safety improvements and Continuous Improvement Ideology at the facility.

     
    Purpose/Summary 
     
    The Plant Manager oversees the operations of a precast concrete manufacturing facility.  This key role ensures accountability and drives results, responsible for exceeding objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost, while leading and developing plant leadership, production and maintenance team members.  The Plant Manager is a main point of contact, collaborating extensively with the Safety, Field Construction, Logistics and other key functional areas.  
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
    •    Establish a “Zero Harm” safety culture by working closely with the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) department to implement proactive methods to drive EHS programs, policies and procedures.   
    •    Mentor, coach and develop plant team members of Sr. by setting clear objectives, providing guidance, tools and resources, and establishing institutionalized processes to track progress, installing a continuous improvement mindset.  
    •    Partner with the Quality Department to establish programs that achieve quality metrics, continuously driving improvement by minimizing defects, scrap and rework.  
    •    Partner with the Logistics and Field Construction teams to ensure product is ready on time and efficiently delivered to the job site in a way that maximizes productivity of the erection crews.   
    •    Oversee the budgeting process and manage fixed and variable costs.  
     
    Basic Qualifications 
    •    BA/BS in Business, Operations, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience 
    •    5 years of experience in manufacturing operations with at least three years in a supervisory role.? 
    •    Demonstrated track record managing plant operations, setting and achieving Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost performance objectives.? 
     
    Preferred Qualifications 
    •    MBA or MS in Business, Operations, Engineering or related field.? 
    •    Experience working in the concrete industry.? 
    •    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.? 
    •    Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles with experience implementing waste elimination and defect management programs.?

    •    Office:?Move 25lbs (not for all jobs, reasonable accommodations will be made), work with a computer for extended periods of time 
     
    Work Environment  
    •    When in Plant/Field Settings: This position requires knowledge and awareness of construction and industrial sites. Protective gear will be required where appropriate.
