Director of Plant Operations – Food Manufacturing

Position Summary:

Sukhi's Gourmet Indian Foods is looking for an experience Sr. Plant Manager . This role will be responsible for the management of all production and packaging operations at the Plant location in Hayward, CA, including capacity and capital planning to provide the necessary direction for an effective operation. Plans, organizes, and controls bulk production of food items to ensure that goods are produced in the right quantity at the right time and meeting all cost and quality standards necessary to serve our growing customer demand. Must have experience in food manufacturing.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Oversees all production and operational activities for the plant and build process to better connect key stakeholders to our goals
• Champions a safe work environment and maintains compliance to health and safety policies, procedures, while ensuring compliance with applicable OSHA/Cal- OSHA requirements
• Ensure all quality and food safety policies and standards are met and are in compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies
• Develops, manages and owns the plant budget, identifying, reporting and addressing variances
• Develops and manages daily priorities that drive production schedules to meet inventory levels, cost and quality goals
• Ensures efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including purchasing, distribution, warehousing and management
• Analyzes production and quality metrics and proactively implements improvements and solutions to issues that are identified
• Drives a culture of continuous improvement, responsibility and accountability through employee engagement and leading by example
• Provide hands on leadership, including evaluating all existing systems, processes and metrics and recommend and implements improvements which will minimize production costs and waste while maximizing production outputs
• Monitors preventative maintenance schedule to ensure max run time of equipment

Qualifications

• Bachelors level degree in Business Manufacturing, Engineering or related field
• 10 years progressive plant experience, with at least 5 yrs in a management capacity
• Must have experience in a USDA manufacturing environment
• Experience with plant engineering a plus
• Demonstrated leadership in plant, experienced at managing the following key functional areas: Production, Maintenance/Engineering and Sanitation.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Working knowledge of USDA/FSIS regulatory requirements preferred.
• Working knowledge of SQF, HACCP and FSQA preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills
