Plant Manager directs a plant or production facility's overall operations. Sets and implements policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Develops and deploys manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant Manager develops and implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Collaborates with multi-functional plant teams, including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Leads or participates in labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant Manager manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Plant Manager typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Job Summary: The ready-mix concrete production manager is responsible for leading a team in the coordination of maintenance and daily production of concrete from assigned plants.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Visualize, define, plan, communicate, and implement the company vision and core values.
    • Oversee concrete production, supervise, and set performance standards, goals, and plan strategies to complete those goals.
    • Monitor employee training and certification.
    • Maintain recruiting, hiring, promotion, and corrective action.
    • Regularly visit production sites and oversee safety, cleanliness, production, and downtime deficiencies.
    • Evaluate the current quality of all concrete materials.
    • Function as a company expert on concrete production.
    • Work on designs and installation of new processing facilities.
    • Work with the area manager to investigate new product sources.
    • Work to ensure all air, water, and other environmental requirements are always met and ensure a safe and healthful work environment.
    • Oversee concrete plant location properties to ensure equipment is secure.
    • Ensure all reclamation work is performed according to established plans.
    • Work to oversee that completion of repairs and maintenance of equipment is completed to company standards.
    • Maintain insurable driving record.
    • Review, understand, and adhere to all union contracts.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Bachelor of Science degree and/or concrete experience preferred.
    • Ability to maintain agreeable relationships with vendors, employees, and customers.

    PHISICAL DEMANDS/SAFETY:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

    • Sitting: 50% of time
    • Standing: 50% of time
    • Driving: Position requires driving to jobsites, and Geneva Rock offices. Company vehicle provided.
    • Weight Lifted: Must frequently be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
    • Physical Movement: May frequently be required to walk over uneven ground, balance, stoop/crouch, kneel, grab and hold objects such as surveying equipment and other equipment as needed.
    • Speaking / Listening: Needs to be able to communicate well with customers, dispatch, supervision, receive and follow instructions, and understand safety requirements.
    • Working Conditions: 25% of time will be spent working outside in the elements.
