Plant Operations Manager oversees the daily operational activities of a plant or production facility. Develops and manages production schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Operations Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Additionally, Plant Operations Manager oversees staffing and development of all production supervisors and staff and facilitates labor relations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Operations Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Plant Operations Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Provides overall direction and leadership for the Port Neches and Orange facilities, assuring for customers, employees, neighbors and owners that it is operated in a safe, environmentally sound, quality driven, cost-efficient manner. This position is responsible for assisting in the establishment of strategic direction, the development and implementation of objectives and the measurement of key performance metrics.

     

     PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

    • Develop and communicate the vision and strategy for the plant, to position it for the future.
    • Monitor external environment including the market, customer needs, raw material supply, competition, regulatory direction, politics, and the community.
    • Establish, communicate, support, motivate, measure and evaluate results for all goals and objectives essential for safe, environmentally sound, quality, cost effective and appropriate interpersonal aspects of plant operations.
    • Establish meaningful objectives through identification of core processes, defining customer requirements, measuring current performance, redesign, implementation and continuously revisiting this process.
    • Identify and obtain the necessary resources to achieve the vision and goals.
    • This is accomplished by leading, measuring, justifying, establishing budgets and meeting expectations and commitments.
    • Interface with internal and external functional groups as needed to support continued good relations and growth of the plant and business reputation.
    • Meeting with customers including the ones that buy our products, employees, neighbors, civic groups, management organizations and so on to establish and develop relationships, commitment and sense of security.
    • Monitor and Audit plant operations to assure compliance with federal and state laws, i.e. OSHA EPA, TCEQ, GLO, NIOSH, TWC, NLRB, EEOC,
    • Legal responsibilities for appropriate business conduct.


     MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
    • 5-10 years’ experience as a department manager or site manager working closely with all phases of chemical, petrochemical or refining plant operations. 
    • In-depth knowledge of chemical processes, safety protocols, and industry regulations.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities
    • Minimal experience would include knowledge of financial systems and analysis, safety and environmental regulations, and the production process.

    • This position is on site and candidates must be willing to relocate if outside of the Beaumont Area
