Plant Operations Manager oversees the daily operational activities of a plant or production facility. Develops and manages production schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Operations Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Additionally, Plant Operations Manager oversees staffing and development of all production supervisors and staff and facilitates labor relations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Operations Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Job Summary:

    In this position, you will provide key support to the oversight and planning of electrical and operations work within the Aeropropulsion mission area. This role will consist of supporting plant operations engineers in the daily activities of operating and maintaining critical plant and test assets.

    Job Duties:
    • Working with Plant Operations Engineers to execute some duties of a Plant Operations Engineer
    • Supports the planning of installation and maintenance of test/plant equipment/systems.
    • Supports the acquisition of material for electrical systems
    • Provides insights into effective operations in a complex plant infrastructure environment
    • Trains plant control room personnel during testing
    • Trains plant control room personnel on simulated plant environments on non test days
    • Supports the checkout and preparation of plant facility equipment for operations
    • Supports preparation and installation of test articles and removal of test articles after tests
    • Support maintenance and operations of facility systems
    • Identify gaps between new requirements and existing systems capabilities
    • Provide labor/material inputs to cost estimates for maintenance and capital improvement projects
    • Support scheduling meetings and planning, including making inputs on required maintenance outages
    • Support coordination of electrical and Instrumentation, Data, and Controls (ID&C) activities
    • Accomplishes the planning for maintenance and servicing work as required to place and keep such equipment in operation
    • Assists in plant operations, overseeing the operation of complex testing equipment, and troubleshoots operating equipment
    • This position is expected to support capability development of operating staff in the Aeropropulsion area. 
    • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Two years of college plus a minimum of 9 years of progressive and relevant experience or any equivalent combination of applicable education and progressive and relevant experience.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with AEDC processes and facilities
    • Current United States Citizenship is required.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Prior electrical craft experience
    • B.S. degree in engineering technology or related discipline
    • Ability to read drawings and schematics
    • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems
    • Work experience or familiarity with operation and maintenance activities in a ground test environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work effectively
    • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office products
    • Active Secret Security Clearance


    This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee.  National Aerospace Solutions is a limited liability company comprised of Bechtel National Inc. (as lead company) and Sierra Lobo Inc. with teaming Subcontractors nLogic Inc. and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.

    AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.
