Plant Operations Manager oversees the daily operational activities of a plant or production facility. Develops and manages production schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Operations Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Additionally, Plant Operations Manager oversees staffing and development of all production supervisors and staff and facilitates labor relations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Operations Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Plant Operations Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Description

    OVERVIEW:   

    Coordinates and directs the design, planning, construction, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, building, grounds, and other facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate Managers.  Establish preventative maintenance schedules.  Acts as Fire Marshal and directs safety programs to detect, minimize, and control fires and fire hazards.  Administers and directs security and vehicles.  Blood and body fluids exposure: Category III.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:  Include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

    • Keeps confidential all information not specifically authorized to be given to others.
    • Inspects plant and evaluates use of space, functionality, safety and efficiency.
    • Analyzes firm’s HVAC systems, computer network wiring, lighting, and other factors.
    • Plans, budgets, and schedules Facilities modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts, and contracts for construction and acquisitions.
    • Performs audits to support Facility planning.
    • Develops long range plans, conceptual designs, and capital outlay requirements and documentation for Facility.
    • Formulates and coordinates program specifications, requirements for proposals and contracts, and associated documents.
    • Acts as liaison to public utility, environmental, and energy agencies.
    • Inspects construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications.
    • Reviews real estate contracts for compliance with government specifications and suitability for occupancy.
    • Oversees the coordination of building space allocation, layout, and communication services.
    • Oversees and directs maintenance personnel and workers engaged in equipment installation, Facilities equipment repair, and preventive maintenance.
    • Schedules and expedites operations and repairs.
    • Supervises emergency and major repair jobs.
    • Handles emergency calls.
    • Approves work orders.
    • Ensures all equipment and all inspections comply with regulatory requirements.
    • Directs fire safety program and disaster preparedness drills; coordinators disaster drills.
    • Trains new personnel and educates all personnel in fire protection, safety, OSHA regulations and the proper responses to each.
    • Maintains Safety Data Sheet information for all departments and ensures compliance with OSHA requirements.
    • Manages department within budgetary expectations/goals.
    • Observes and follows safety policies and procedures.
    • Observes and follows infection control policies and procedures.
    • Attends all mandatory inservices as required.
    • Demonstrates positive guest relations to internal and external customers.
    • Team Members are required to report to their Department Director all incidents of actual or possible abuse of a Resident that they become aware of.  Abuse in this respect includes, but is not limited to, verbal, sexual, physical, and/or mental abuse, corporal punishment, involuntary seclusion, neglect, and/or any misappropriation of property concerning St. Mark Village Residents.  Team Members will make the report as soon as possible after they become aware of the incident of actual or possible abuse.
    • May be assigned other related duties and responsibilities as required by Chief Executive Officer.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Facility’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; terminations, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    REQUIRED SKILL, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    High school diplomas or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have minimum of Five years previous management experience.  Must have two years experience in working with boilers, engines, air conditioners, and other complex mechanical equipment.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILL:   

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, legal documents and governmental regulations.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Team Members.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:     

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

     

    REASONING ABILITY:   

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
