Plant Superintendent jobs in Albany, NY

Oversees the implementation of policies and procedures related to the physical plant operations and maintenance for adult correctional facilities within the incumbent’s assigned region.

Inspects renovations, new construction, and maintenance repairs to ensure compliance with applicable codes and Department policies and directives.

Assists in the development of capital budget plan including, but not limited to, facility renovation and new construction, utility and system infrastructure upgrades and replacements, as well as other improvements to meet operational needs.

Works directly with Fire Safety Representatives, safety and security officers, facility planners, and emergency management coordinators to ensure occupancy standards, applicable codes and agency regulations are not compromised.

Supervises the renovation and construction work performed by in-house and outside contractors. Verifies workmanship related to compliance with industry standards while adhering to contract documents and specifications through plan review and site inspections.

May supervise maintenance staff and management of workload via computerized work order programs. Develops and maintains manpower reports, preventative maintenance schedules, backlog management and an environmental compliance platform.

Ensures facility maintenance staff development by coordinating and providing training focusing on health and safety, occupational hazards, etc., while enhancing skill sets necessary for career advancement.

The position requires travel within the assigned region, as well as throughout NYS to assist other regions with special projects and initiatives.
