Plant Superintendent jobs in Columbus, OH
Plant Superintendent supervises and coordinates workers' activities in all phases of plant operations. Develops and manages production and maintenance schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Superintendent utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and achieve production goals. Troubleshoots operational, materials, equipment, and staffing problems and coordinates solutions. Additionally, Plant Superintendent implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Plant Superintendent typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. An electrical contractor with various offices throughout Ohio is looking to add a Superintendent to their Columbus branch due to a large backlog of work coming up. Duties:
- Oversee daily activities on construction job site
- Be the primary point of contact for all on site functions
- Coordinate with project management team on daily schedules and project timelines
- Oversee all subcontractors, vendors, laborers and other jobsite staff
- Ensure proper safety is being adhered to on site according to company safety standards
- Lead daily morning meetings
- Handle all daily logs and other necessary job site documentation
- Communicate with engineers, owners, project management staff and other stake holders
- Complete jobsite walks with appropriate parties
- Ensure project is running smoothly and following project schedules
- Identify issues or problem areas before they arise
- Lead and mentor field engineers
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience working in the electrical construction field
- GED/High School Diploma
- Trade experience a plus
- Familiarity with multifamily and commercial construction
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Prior experience as an electrician a plus
