Plant Superintendent supervises and coordinates workers' activities in all phases of plant operations. Develops and manages production and maintenance schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Superintendent utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and achieve production goals. Troubleshoots operational, materials, equipment, and staffing problems and coordinates solutions. Additionally, Plant Superintendent implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Plant Superintendent typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The Superintendent’s responsibility includes managing the overall day-to-day supervision of field related construction activities for the project. Responsibilities include: implementation and enforcement of safety policies, directing craft personnel and subcontractors; scheduling and sequencing the day to day activities of work; overseeing individual projects to assure compliance with the scope and quality as established by the contract documents; proactively anticipating and solving problems that could delay construction; promoting and instilling BLHI’s values into the workforce; managing the permit and inspection process, physically inspecting projects to monitor progress and compliance with project standards; maintaining QC/QA files and updating as-built drawings; and assist in regularly scheduled progress meetings
