Plant Superintendent supervises and coordinates workers' activities in all phases of plant operations. Develops and manages production and maintenance schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Superintendent utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and achieve production goals. Troubleshoots operational, materials, equipment, and staffing problems and coordinates solutions. Additionally, Plant Superintendent implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Plant Superintendent typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Overview

    Absher Superintendents are responsible for field operations on the project assigned in order to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. 

     

    What You’ll Do

    • Directly supervise, train, and mentors field labor force, including laborers/craft workers.
    • Demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills. 
    • Ensure that work progresses according to schedule and that material and equipment are delivered to the work site on time, with excellent quality, and safely. 
    • Assist in bidding opportunities and preconstruction services by performing constructability reviews and providing input on costs, scheduling and pre-planning. 
    • Responsible for communication to Project Mangers, internal and external clients and labor force. 
    • Manage CPM schedules, including preparation of detailed short-term schedules and ensuring all activities take place on or ahead of schedule. 
    • Prepare and submit reports, attend project meetings and coordinate site testing and inspection efforts. 
    • Monitor project costs, including labor time and material.

    • 10 years of industry experience with established, respected position within the construction community, knowledgeable of all craft functions.
    • Possess complete field construction management skills and detailed understanding of union contracts.
    • Ground-up commercial project leadership experience such as building K-12 facilities, higher education, hospitals, senior living facilities, YMCAs, mixed-use buildings, transportation stations, or similar
    • Junior College or Vocational education desired
    • Procore and P6 experience preferred
    • OSHA 10 certification
    • First Aid/CPR certification

    The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000 with the average starting salary in the 40th percentile range; commensurate with experience and training. This ensures we get you properly seated within our organization so that all parties feel good about our future together.
