Places paper containing identification information on camera grid, exposes film to identify information, develops and dries negative, and then forms printing plate. Being a Platemaker - Offset maintains production records and machines. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Platemaker - Offset typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Platemaker - Offset typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. May be entry level if some experience in the skill. The candidate would need to have prior printing press experience or knowledge of offset printing procedures. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure.
A pressman must be dependable, hard- working, accurate with attention to detail, able to work with minimal supervision. You must be willing to work overtime and various shifts, on an as needed basis.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, reach with arms and hands, and to stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee will regularly lift or move up to 50 lbs. or more.
