Plumber inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains plumbing fixtures and piping in heating, water and drainage systems. Identifies plumbing and safety problems applicable to the installation and takes necessary corrective action using appropriate parts and tools. Being a Plumber complies with all required safety, building code and inspection requirements. Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, and other instructions. Additionally, Plumber has completed required apprenticeship. Typically requires a high school diploma. Requires Journeyman Plumber status. Requires a State License for plumbing. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Plumber works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. POSITION PURPOSE:
The Plumber performs difficult work in the maintenance, repair, modification and installation of plumbing fixtures in school buildings and facilities. Work involves performing a variety of repair or replacement functions related to plumbing, minor electrical work related to hot water heaters, wiring of well pumps and disposals. Employee must exercise independent judgment and initiative in performing assigned duties. Perform technical work planning as assigned.
