Plumber inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains plumbing fixtures and piping in heating, water and drainage systems. Identifies plumbing and safety problems applicable to the installation and takes necessary corrective action using appropriate parts and tools. Being a Plumber complies with all required safety, building code and inspection requirements. Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, and other instructions. Additionally, Plumber has completed required apprenticeship. Typically requires a high school diploma. Requires Journeyman Plumber status. Requires a State License for plumbing. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Plumber works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides services required for installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems of University Health owned and leased buildings and facilities. Performs assigned duties promptly and proficiently. Complies with University Health and departmental policies and procedures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school graduation or equivalent. Two plus years’ experience as a plumber is required. The ability to speak, read, and write English, make simple calculations, and follow simple written and oral directions is required
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
A valid Texas State driver’s license “Class C” and must maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record and insurable by University Health.
