Plumber inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains plumbing fixtures and piping in heating, water and drainage systems. Identifies plumbing and safety problems applicable to the installation and takes necessary corrective action using appropriate parts and tools. Being a Plumber complies with all required safety, building code and inspection requirements. Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, and other instructions. Additionally, Plumber has completed required apprenticeship. Typically requires a high school diploma. Requires Journeyman Plumber status. Requires a State License for plumbing. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Plumber works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Job Title: Journeyman Plumber
Pay Scale: $20 to $35
Work Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, occasional nights and weekend
Primary Job Function: This is manual work at the journeyman level in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems. Work involves performance of skilled plumbing tasks in maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of fixtures and equipment. Routine maintenance, service, and repair work are performed independently.
Reports to: Plumbing Service Manager
Required Qualifications:
• Residential service and installation experience
• Completed apprenticeship program in plumbing in the last 4-5 years
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong finger and Manual dexterity for handling pipes and plumbing fixtures
• Detail-oriented, organized and proficient of reading blueprints
• Strong knowledge of local plumbing codes
• Willing to work in all types of weather
• Considerable knowledge of standard tools, methods, and materials of the plumbing trade
• Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work
