Salary
Competitive and commensurate with qualifications, experience, and level into which the finalist is hired.
Hours per Week
- 40 hours weekly
- Employee will be working on any or all three shifts including weekends and holidays. Days off will be determined by the shift supervisor. Employee may be required to work rotating shifts based on experience.

Essential Functions
To provide service, information and aid to all citizens as circumstances require, prevent crime, suppress disturbances, investigate criminal offenses and arrest offenders.
Responsible for enforcement duties for the protection, safety and welfare of students, employees, visitors, and all property within the area under the control and jurisdiction of The University of Texas System. Exercises independent judgment within the limits prescribed by law, Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents, institutional rules and regulations and departmental policies and procedures. Serves as a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
- Perform law enforcement duties on the property under the control and jurisdiction of the University of Texas System.
- Preserve the peace by the use of all lawful means, interceding, when authorized by law, to prevent or suppress crime.
- Execute all lawful processes.
- Arrest offenders with and without warrant when authorized by law.
- Investigate criminal offenses to detect and arrest criminals, and recover stolen or lost property.
- Attempt to locate missing persons.
- Enforce traffic law by detecting violations, making violator contacts, placing violators in custody or issuing citation or warnings.
- Investigate motor vehicle collisions.
- Prepare various written reports narrating law enforcement and police activities.
- Give testimony in the criminal courts of this state and the United States. Confers with prosecuting attorneys, preserves evidence, and maintains confidential information.
- Confer with local law enforcement, criminal justice and emergency response agencies on matters of mutual interest.
- Serves as a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
- Discuss cases with prosecuting attorneys, prepare evidence, and appear as a witness in court.

Required Qualifications
- No experience required.
- Successful completion of a TCOLE approved Basic Peace Officer Course by date of hire.
- Must be currently enrolled in an academy or seeking TCOLE licensing for out of state applicants at time of application.
- Successful passing of TCOLE licensing exam by date of hire.
- Must hold or be able to obtain a Peace Officer Commission, issued by the Director of Police of the UT System Police.
- Valid drivers license not subject to suspension.
- Currently have or ability to obtain valid Texas drivers license by the first day of employment.
- Must be eligible to drive a University owned or leased motor vehicle.
- Must meet UTS157 prerequisites established by the Office of the Director of Police, the Board of Regents, and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
- Must have the physical and mental capabilities to properly carry out the responsibilities and duties as a commissioned police officer of The University of Texas System Police to include passing a physical agility test.
- Proficient with firearms, restraints, less lethal force weapons and techniques, and automobiles.

Working Conditions:
- May be required to work either day or night on any one of three shifts with varying days off
- Work involves a high degree of hazard normally associated with law enforcement
