2023 Lateral Selection Process
ISEP is excited to announce a hiring process to select up to 16 qualified candidates with current law enforcement experience for positions as Indiana State Excise Police Officers. Lateral applicants must possess a current Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Tier I Certification or have completed a P.O.S.T. certified basic training course in another state.

Indiana State Excise Police (ISEP) officers are fully certified and empowered to enforce any state law with a primary focus on the state’s alcohol, tobacco, and Type II gaming laws. ISEP not only undertakes traditional criminal law enforcement activities, but also regulates 11,255 establishments licensed to sell alcoholic beverages, 7,494 that sell tobacco products, and 1,274 with Type II gaming.
