Being a Police Patrol Officer requires an associate degree in criminal justice and/or additional certifications and at least 12 to 18 months of law enforcement experience. We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join the LaSalle Police Department. As a Police Officer/Cadet, you will play a crucial role in maintaining law and order within our community. Responsibilities:
- Enforce laws and regulations to maintain public order and safety
- Conduct patrols and respond to calls for service
- Investigate crimes and accidents, gather evidence, and interview witnesses
- Write detailed reports on incidents, arrests, and investigations
- Conduct surveillance operations to gather intelligence on criminal activities
- Provide assistance and support to victims of crime or accidents
- Perform traffic control duties and enforce traffic laws
- Respond to emergencies and provide first aid/CPR when necessary
- Handle animals in accordance with department policies (if applicable)
- Maintain professional relationships with community members and other law enforcement agencies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education)
- Completion of a certified police academy or equivalent training program
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Excellent physical fitness and the ability to pass physical fitness tests
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions
- Knowledge of criminal investigation techniques and procedures
- Proficient in conflict management and de-escalation techniques
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Skills:
- Leadership experience or training
- CPR certification
- Experience in report writing and documentation
- Familiarity with surveillance techniques
