Police Patrol Officer is responsible for patrolling an assigned area to prevent and discover crime and to enforce regulations. Responsible for responding to calls, taking necessary action at the scene of crime or disturbance, conducting investigations, making arrests, testifying in court, and completing reports/forms and routine paperwork. Being a Police Patrol Officer requires an associate degree in criminal justice and/or additional certifications and at least 12 to 18 months of law enforcement experience. Requires Firearms Certification. Additionally, Police Patrol Officer typically reports to a police sergeant. The Police Patrol Officer works under moderate supervision. Police Officer (Pitt-Bradford)
Enforces all state laws, seeks out illegal activities, responds to violations of law. Responds to telephone calls requiring law enforcement, investigates suspicious activity, patrols campus, and attends mandated trainings. Manages traffic, makes lawful arrests, and testifies in legal proceedings.
Responsibilities include ensuring public safety in a multi-cultural environment. Police Officer duties include vehicular and foot patrol of University property; enforcement of criminal and traffic laws; protection of persons and property; investigation of crimes; completion of police reports; testimony in court; and assistance to other law enforcement agencies.
A physical fitness examination requiring running, jumping, sit-ups, and pushups is required. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and firearms. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or other related field from an accredited college or University and must have obtained Pennsylvania Act 120 certification prior to appointment; possess a valid PA driver’s license; as well as a safe driving record.
