Police Patrol Officer is responsible for patrolling an assigned area to prevent and discover crime and to enforce regulations. Responsible for responding to calls, taking necessary action at the scene of crime or disturbance, conducting investigations, making arrests, testifying in court, and completing reports/forms and routine paperwork. Being a Police Patrol Officer requires an associate degree in criminal justice and/or additional certifications and at least 12 to 18 months of law enforcement experience. Requires Firearms Certification. Additionally, Police Patrol Officer typically reports to a police sergeant. The Police Patrol Officer works under moderate supervision.   • The Police Projects Clerk serves as an administrative multi-tasker and must have an upbeat attitude. Candidates should be professional, polite, and attentive while also being accurate. Must be comfortable with communicating with the public, general office tasks, computers, organization, project management, presentations, and excel at both verbal and written communication.

    EXAMPLES OF WORK:

    Completes and Presents Reports; as assigned, may be required to prepare spreadsheets, documents, diagrams, process maps, brochures or pamphlets to ensure accurate communication via electronic or print media.

    Analyzes Data and Statistics; as assigned, may be required to research, access, collect, analyze, prepare, and present data. This may be of the police CompStat format or other design.

    Manages Projects; as assigned, supports ongoing police projects. May coordinate, ensure delivery, design, plan, manage, measure, report, document, budget and track. Performs other related duties.

    Welcomes Visitors; by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries. Directs visitors by maintaining employee and department directories; giving instructions. Maintains security by following procedures. Maintains safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintains continuity among the work team by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

    Handles Office Tasks; maintaining records and filing, generating reports and presentations, setting up for meetings, and reordering supplies. Providing real-time scheduling support by booking appointments and preventing conflicts. Screening phone calls and routing callers to the appropriate party. Using computers to generate reports, transcribe minutes from meetings, create presentations, and conduct research. Greet and assist visitors. Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail. Anticipate the needs of others in order to ensure their seamless and positive experience. May manage leave requests and scheduling.

    Contributes to the organizational mission and team effort by collaboratively and cooperatively accomplishing related results as needed and directed.

    Requirements:

    Two-year college degree or equivalent is recommended but may be waived by the Chief of Police.

    Professional certification or continuing education courses completed at an accredited learning institution in the applicable areas of Project Management, Business, Computers and Technology, Administrative Assistant, will be reviewed and taken into consideration.

    For Senior – one (1) year as Police Projects Clerk and certified, successful completion of eighteen (18) hours of job related Career Building classes as approved by the Human Resources office. Upon verification of requirements, promotion will take effect the following July 1.

    For Principal – one (1) year as Senior Police Projects Clerk and certified, successful completion of an additional eighteen (18) hours of job related Career Building classes as approved by the Human Resources office.
