Police Patrol Officer is responsible for patrolling an assigned area to prevent and discover crime and to enforce regulations. Responsible for responding to calls, taking necessary action at the scene of crime or disturbance, conducting investigations, making arrests, testifying in court, and completing reports/forms and routine paperwork. Being a Police Patrol Officer requires an associate degree in criminal justice and/or additional certifications and at least 12 to 18 months of law enforcement experience. The City of East Moline is currently taking applications for the position of police officer. Applicants will be required to pass a physical agility test, written exam, and interview administered by the Fire and Police Commission. Qualifying candidates will be placed on a two-year eligibility list.
The East Moline Police Department has 38 sworn officers in addition to support staff that provide public safety to the 21,000 residents of East Moline. The police department has several divisions, that include, Investigations, Crisis Containment Unit (SWAT), School Resource Officers, K-9, Community Oriented Policing, Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) and the Federal Gang Task Force (GTF).
Starting wage is $63,446 per year raising to $65,667 in year two and then $72,987 in year three, plus full benefits including two weeks' vacation after one year and increasing with tenure.
These benefits will be payable to all employees classified as regular "full-time" at the time of their hiring as follows:

Saturday May 18th, 2024 9:00 AM at the East Moline City Fitness Center located at 1200 13th Av East Moline, IL. Physical Agility Test is first, Written Exam to follow at 11:30 AM.
Physical Agility Test consists of bench press, sit-ups, sit and reach, and 1 1/2 mile run. Standards set based on age and gender. Wear appropriate clothing for physical activity and bring ID, there will be a break before the written exam to change if needed.
