Supports, troubleshoots, monitors, maintains and repairs Police Department communications systems, custom software, computer systems and networks.The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Responds effectively to emergency situations affecting the operation of the Dispatch Center.
Works effectively with the Dispatch Supervisor and other Department personnel to provide support to the Dispatch Center.
Be available to Work cooperatively with InfoComm to assist in the maintenance and repair of the Boroughs Radio System if required by lnfoComm.
Monitor Police Department systems to ensure 24 hour availability and reliability.
Maintain all systems used in the Dispatch Center, less the Boroughs Radio system.
Diagnose and facilitate the repair of printing problems that may occur within the Departments Network and Systems.
Provide technical support for all software and hardware within the Departments networks and computer systems.
Provide Department training and technical expertise to users as needed.
Maintain user ID's with InfoComm, MIS, E-force.
Works cooperatively and effectively with InfoComm, MIS and all Borough Departments, and outside Agencies.
Work cooperatively with State Agencies in maintaining APSIN, OTIS, Crossmatch, Tracs, ect.
Maintains and updates Department computer systems as needed, install software upgrades and enhancements as needed.
Remains current on industry trends and technology changes, evaluates new hardware and software and related equipment for functionality and fit to the Police Department environment and user needs.
May negotiate and manage contracts for purchases, installation and maintenance of Department equipment and systems.
Participates in activities that promote the Departments Community Oriented Policing Philosophy, this includes, but is not limited to: allowing the Department to take and use an employee's photo and information for public relations and public services purposes.
Travel to outlying villages as required.

Knowledge of commonly used information services concepts, practices and procedures.
Knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting techniques.
Knowledge of local systems access and security guidelines and procedures.
Knowledge of specialized software applications.
Kin in using basic tools, equipment and procedures for repairing computers and peripheral devices.
Data processing experience.
Strong interpersonal skills.High school graduate or G.E.D./or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
Five years of computer experience, including three years of computer hardware and software work experience;
Ability to pass a thorough personal-history investigation of the person to determine character traits and habits indicative of moral character.
