    Job Description: UHPP’s Health Policy Analyst (HPA) serves as a lead consumer advocate for health care reform in Utah. HPA is responsible for analyzing health policy initiatives, writing position statements, collaborating with partners and state leaders, and other activities related to the goal of promoting effective implementation of health reform and other health system changes. The HPA will conduct a wide range of health policy research and compose related policy papers/statements. The HPA will advocate for and serve as a public representative for UHPP on health care policy objectives; this includes but is not limited to working with government officials, media reporters, patients, community groups, and other stakeholders and members of the public. The HPA will further assist with organizational development needs, including work on grants and fundraising events. The HPA will also perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree and/or related work experience strongly preferred
    Effective Communication: Communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, thorough, and timely manner; comfortable speaking in public settings
    Adaptability: Demonstrate a willingness to learn quickly and adapt to changing policy and political environments; while maintaining effectiveness and attention to detail; ability to make timely decisions and recommendations
    Relationship Building: Positive mindset and ability to maintain strong working relationships with coworkers, community members, partners, policymakers, government officials, staff, and other stakeholders regardless of policy position or political affiliation
    Background Knowledge: Must be knowledgeable about state and federal health policy, especially Medicaid, COVID-19, and other timely issues
    Experience: Must have experience with the legislative process, research and writing, project planning, and work experience in a nonprofit or government organization; social media experience preferred
    Self-Starter/Problem Solving: Must have a desire to work independently and ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects; ability self-manage tasks and deliverables - meeting deadlines without prompting

    Salary and Benefits:

    Salary range is $55,000 to $58,000 annually with generous performance bonus structure, 15 vacation days, 8 sick days, 13 holidays, 3 paid floating holidays, Simple IRA with employer match, Health Care Offset Payment, Life Insurance, Vision and Dental Insurance, Employee Assistance Program

    HPA position is Exempt and Employee at Will
