Policy Change Supervisor jobs in Alamogordo, NM

Policy Change Supervisor supervises a group of insurance policy change technicians to ensure that policy changes and requests are carried out according to established guidelines. Determines action on changes for which a policyholder has applied, but which are not covered by policy provisions, and computes costs or allowances for policy changes. Being a Policy Change Supervisor contacts policy owners and field agents with pertinent information that may affect a policy change. Does not have underwriting approval. Additionally, Policy Change Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Policy Change Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Policy Change Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     WHAT YOU BRING

    • Minimum associate degree, Bachelor’s in a related field strongly preferred
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working on legislative policy advocacy
    • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with decision makers, community partners, and diverse stakeholders 
    • Bilingual / biliterate in at least one Asian or Pacific Islander language (Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Tagalog, Thai, Vietnamese, Khmer, Samoan, Tongan or others) preferred 
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
    • Valid driver’s license and/or access to alternative means of transportation

    Qualifications


    The Policy Advocate is responsible for advancing the advocacy efforts of Advancing Justice Southern California. Utilizing a strong understanding and development of regional and statewide relationships and landscapes, this position will identify opportunities to uplift key issues of concern with state legislative staff and administrative policy makers in order to shape policies that positively impact the AAPI communities.

     

    Your day-to-day typically includes:

     

    60% Major Responsibilities

    • Design, plan, and implement comprehensive policy strategies aligned with organizational priorities and goals
    • Develop, plan and execute legislative organizing activities such as advocacy visits, legislative campaign events
    • Represent AJSOCAL in committee hearings and meetings
    • Monitor, track and provide recommendation on legislation and budget proposals pertain to issue areas aligned with AJSOCAL priorities, as well as drafting position letters
    • Development and maintenance of strong regional relationships with the Capitol community, coalitions, community-based organizations, leaders, elected officials, and their staff
    • Provide strategic guidance and tools to AJSOCAL staff and community partners, including policy analysis, power-mapping, and decision-making

     

    30% Policy Support

    • Maintain strong relationships and communication with LA, OC, and Sacramento staff with key focus on advancing the organization's legislative and budget agenda
    • Serve as an ambassador of AJSOCAL’s mission, policy, and advocacy priorities in Sacramento
