Additionally, Policy Change Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Policy Change Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions.     Potelco, Inc. is actively seeking a results-oriented Fleet Supervisor to supervise a motor vehicle maintenance or fabrication shop engaged in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment.     Supervisors, under general supervision, plan, schedule, coordinate and evaluate the work of subordinate staff; maintain accurate and adequate written reports, work instructions, billing documents and maintenance and repair records; and serve as primary contact person between shop and equipment user departments regarding vehicle maintenance, modifications and repair or welding, fabrication, and paint and body shop operations.  Supervisors require knowledge of fleet maintenance or body shop repair operations including repair trades practices and procedures as well as supervisory practices.  The ability to interpret and apply technical procedures relating to fleet maintenance or body shop operations is also required.  General guidelines exist in the form of operations and procedures manuals, union contracts, state and federal regulations, municipal codes and departmental and Company guidelines, policies and procedures.  Supervisors perform full supervisory duties for all fleet maintenance staff.  Personal contact occurs with intra-departmental personnel, customers and vendors for the purpose of coordinating work activities and exchanging information.

    What You'll Do

    • Plans, schedules, organizes, and coordinates the workflow and assignments of employees.
    • Determines the priority of work orders and their assignment to personnel; ensures timely completion of work assignments.
    • Supervises shift Shop Foremen in the performance of their duties to ensure work is performed efficiently and effectively.
    • Evaluates the work of subordinate staff in a wide variety of fleet maintenance or body shop operations.
    • Reviews completed work and provides feedback as necessary; reviews maintenance and repair activities to evaluate quality and quantity of work.
    • Assists in the development of the Fleet operating budget to include a review of past year expenses and income.
    • Tracks and manages the Fleet maintenance budgets.  Monitors parts, consumables, tools, and labor costs to ensure budget goals are met. 
    • Performs cost control analysis of work completed on both a daily and long-range planning basis.
    • Implements and monitors a cost-effective Preventative and Repair Maintenance Program that adheres to shop and manufacturers’ maintenance specifications.
    • Manages yard operations; ensures vehicles and equipment are parked and staged in accordance with the parking plan; ensures parking tags are correctly written and attached.
    • Ensures vehicles and equipment designated for disposal are processed efficiently and effectively.
    • Interprets and enforces safety standards to minimize hazards; and conducts regular tailboards and safety meetings as required.
    • Responsible for administering the Fleet’s Training and Advancement Program; meets assigned training and advancement deadlines listed in Fleet Job Descriptions; schedules external training and OJT to ensure staff are trained to the level listed in Fleet Job Descriptions.
    • Assists in the hiring of new employees.
    • Recommends disciplinary action or promotion as appropriate. 
    • Prepares and maintains shop, personnel and other related records. 
    • Schedules work with outside vendors and other Company bases; tracks and monitors contracted work to completion, ensures vendor work meets Fleet maintenance and quality standards. 
    • Resolves complaints from bases and other users.
    • Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.

    What You'll Bring

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Three years of experience as fleet mechanic or fabricator including two years supervisory or lead experience or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of a Supervisor.
    • Obtain a First Aid and CPR card within the first 90 days of employment start date.
