Policy Change Supervisor supervises a group of insurance policy change technicians to ensure that policy changes and requests are carried out according to established guidelines. Determines action on changes for which a policyholder has applied, but which are not covered by policy provisions, and computes costs or allowances for policy changes. Being a Policy Change Supervisor contacts policy owners and field agents with pertinent information that may affect a policy change. Does not have underwriting approval. Additionally, Policy Change Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Policy Change Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Policy Change Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. Public Policy Advocacy Policy Development Specialist

  • DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Under supervision of the Director, the APDS will assist with development, advocacy, and implementation of GFB Policy. Additional duties may include:

    • Work with Georgia Farm Bureau staff and volunteer leaders on how to effectively engage with elected officials on the local, state, and federal level.
    • Providing information to Georgia Farm Bureau members and external stakeholders about the legislative programs of the organization, including but not limited to weekly reports while the General Assembly is in session, articles, through social media channels, and ability to travel for meetings and presentations.
    • Coordinate and execute the I Farm. I Vote. get out the vote campaign to increase participation and education on candidates.
    • As needed, assist in Georgia Farm Bureau’s lobbying efforts in Atlanta and Washington, D.C.
    • Maintain general agricultural knowledge and become proficient in areas assigned by the Department Director.
    • Work with special committees managed by the Department.
    • Assist with all Department activities as necessary and assigned. This includes but is not limited to: planning meetings, preparing budgets, coordinating travel for GFB volunteers, and assisting other GFB Departments when necessary.
    • Provide support and assist with the coordination of GFB’s political action committees.

    QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • This position requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge of general farming practices are helpful.
    • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in agriculture, business, political science, or related field.
    • Minimum 1-3 years work experience with advocacy group or serving in an advocacy role.
    • Proven work record, attendance record, ability to handle confidential material.
    • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and reliably meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks at one time.
    • Proven ability to relate to and work with various people in a professional manner.
    • Must be proficient in general computer skills and must be organized to handle multiple tasks at one time.

    • Members & county Farm Bureaus
    • Committees and boards as warranted
    • Legislators as needed

    OTHER- The employee will be expected to attend frequent meetings at night, often overnight, sometimes for a week at a time. The employee must have a valid Georgia Drivers’ License at all times and be able to receive other licenses or credentials as required for this job. Must be able to fly to distant locations for meetings and Department activities. Willingness to relocate residence to Bibb County or a surrounding county. Generally, represent the organization in a positive way.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • The employee must sit for long periods of time, frequently stand, walk, and stoop, and use hands and arms to manipulate controls and reach for things and regularly lift or move things up to 20 pounds.
    • The employee must be able to talk and hear and vision is required for close and distant work.
