Policy Change Supervisor supervises a group of insurance policy change technicians to ensure that policy changes and requests are carried out according to established guidelines. Determines action on changes for which a policyholder has applied, but which are not covered by policy provisions, and computes costs or allowances for policy changes. Being a Policy Change Supervisor contacts policy owners and field agents with pertinent information that may affect a policy change. Does not have underwriting approval. Additionally, Policy Change Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Policy Change Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Policy Change Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     We are seeking a full time Director of Advancement  to provide leadership and direction to ensure the communications and development team effectively articulate campaign strategies. The Director of Advancement partners with the Leadership team in addition to development staff, program staff, social enterprise leaders, board members, and other volunteers to achieve fundraising goals as well as to define the vehicles for communicating with all constituent groups.

    The Director oversees the centralized marketing and communications team in advancement, and directs the plan for external communication. They serve to engage current and new supporters, increase philanthropic and public support, and build an increasingly strong and growing network of stakeholders and supporters.

    This is a full-time position working primarily Monday through Friday day hours with occasional evenings and weekends. Currently the position is a hybrid position.

    Director of Advancement responsibilities include:

    Advancement Planning and Reporting:
    • Collaborate with the EVP to set quarterly and annual metrics for Development and for Communications, and report progress toward achievement of contributed revenue goals.
    • Collaborate with the EVP to create operating budgets for the Development and Communications departments.
    • Manage and monitor department operating budgets on an ongoing basis, with regular reporting to VP of Advancement or EVP.
    • Conduct and report analytics to provide greater understanding of donor giving behaviors and to identify opportunities or areas of concern.
    • Work with the VP of Advancement to continuously and proactively evaluate the health of the fund development program, to provide periodic comparisons and forecasting, and to advise Leadership of the status toward goal.
    • Provide reports to Leadership, Advancement Committee, and the Board of Directors as needed and directed by the President or the EVP.
    • Liaise with vendors and provide project management and support for initiatives such as wealth screenings, donor data appends, organizational celebrations, related analytics, stewardship initiatives, and impact reporting.
    Development Operations:
    • Support AFC vision and direction for the Advancement team by implementing  and maintaining efficient and accurate development operations to ensure retained and increased philanthropic revenue and public support.
    • Oversee the enhancement and/or establishment of best practices, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance, sound operations, and consistent operations with fundraising and stewardship.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, maintain accountability standards to donors, and ensure compliance with code of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct for fundraising executives.
    • Provide direction and support of donor services including gift receipt, acknowledgement, campaign metrics, and CRM reporting.
    • Ensure the accurate and comprehensive tracking and documentation of all donor information and activity using Salesforce.
      • Document anticipated and completed actions as a result of constituent contacts.
      • Recommend and/or plan for follow-up work, stewardship, written gift proposals and gift commitment documents.
    • Create and modify tailored reports for the development department as needed, as well as assist with financial and donor reports for audits or other compliance purposes.
    • Provide excellent stewardship of the organization’s philanthropic resources.
    • Liaise with contracted Salesforce support as needed/required.
    Grants, Contracts and Sponsorships:
    • Develop and implement short and long-term development plans to meet established goals and objectives for strategic initiatives for securing major gifts, annual events and appeals, corporate and foundation grants, defining stewardship and prospecting tactics, cultivation events and develop new approaches to grow AFC’s donor base.
    • Oversee the management of gift processing and donor acknowledgement, the donor database in salesforce, and financial reporting.
    • Serve as the development lead and provide direct daily management of specifically focused initiatives to secure major gifts and leadership gifts in support of annual campaign goals.
    • Manage the Grant Writer and other development or communications staff responsible for sales, communications, marketing and events.
    Marketing and Communications:
    • Work with the development and communications teams to appropriately position development opportunities and integrate messages in publications, grant submissions, reports, and collateral materials for cultivating and stewarding supporters.
    • Manage the Communications Director and ensure that all marcom strategies support not only the sales of products and services by AFC’s social enterprises, but also the fundraising efforts of the organization.
    • Supervise the marcom team so that strategies and tactics align with the development related communications efforts.
    • Clearly communicate and promote the case of need for funding and build opportunities to create and sustain a culture that understands the relationship between AFC and its funders.
    • Collaboratively with the entire advancement team to convert social enterprise customers to donors, and vice versa, support efforts that allow donors/funders to become buyers of AFC’s various social enterprise products and services.
    Donor engagement:
    • Create, manage and be accountable for individual giving strategies, all campaigns, and the associated marketing and communications tactics related to fundraising and sales.
    • Manages prospect research and cultivation of initiatives with a specific emphasis on increasing giving from individual donors.
    • Develop strategies for existing donors to effectively move them through a meaningful cycle of giving.
    • Manages all staff who have individual donor profiles; creating and implementing initiatives to increase donor retention.
    • Maintain a portfolio of donors and qualified prospects (approximately 50-75 donors/prospects) as the primary relationship manager and contact person.
    Campaign support:
    • Work closely with VP or EVP, President, and contracted campaign counsel to ensure alignment with campaign planning or implementation.
    • Serve as liaison between Advancement Team and VP or EVP, President, and contracted campaign counsel.
    • Ensure annual fundraising and communications campaign(s) integration and alignment with comprehensive or capital campaign.
    Leadership, Management and Accountability:
    • Lead, manage, supervise and motivate direct reports.
      • Senior Engagement Officer.
      • Communications Officer.
      • Grant Writer.
      • Development Manager.
      • Development Facilitator.
    • Provide direct supervision of the direct reports including setting performance standards and evaluating performance.
    • Provide direction to contractors enlisted for Advancement, as applicable.
    • Conduct quarterly check-in’s and annual performance reviews.
    • Implement professional development activities ranging from orientation and training to ongoing mentorship and coaching.
    • Provide direction and coaching to support individual and team success.
    • If necessary, perform disciplinary actions and take corrective measures if there are personnel issues.
    • Ensure duties of direct reports are performed sufficiently and provide periodic coverage of duties episodically if necessary, including supporting grant applications, gift entry, and donor relations.
    Qualified candidate should have:
    • College degree in relevant field, or equivalent experience in nonprofit or social enterprise sector.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in development with direct fundraising experience in events, grant-seeking, individual gifts, and annual fund, a proven track record with major gift fundraising
    • A minimum of 3 years of management and employee supervisory experience.
    • Preferred a minimum of 2 years of leadership team experience.
    • Solid, proven budget management skills including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
    • High level of proficiency in technology, particularly Google Suite applications, CRM donor database management, Salesforce preferred.
    • Knowledge of philanthropy, the nonprofit sector, and the donor engagement process.
    • Must be donor-centered and able to identify and match donor interests with appropriate funding needs.

    PAY RATE: $90,000 to $95,000 - DOQ.
