Policy Change Technician jobs in Albany, NY

The New York State Minority Conference is seeking applicants to fill the position of Policy Analyst who will work as part of a team in Albany on behalf of the Senate Minority Leader, Minority Senators, and relevant central and member staff.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A bachelor’s degree (required), master’s degree or JD preferred
• Strong writing, research, and oratory skills
• Experience in a legislative, political, or governmental context is preferred
• The ability to work nights and weekends as needed

All candidates are expected to live and work in the Capital Region of New York.

The essential functions of this dynamic role include:

• Providing regulatory, policy and budget analysis for the Senate Republican Conference
• Tracking committees and legislation active in the state Senate and state Assembly
• Conducting legislative and policy-related research
• Preparing materials and briefing Senators and staff on legislation, policy initiatives, and regulatory changes
• Assisting Senators and staff in preparation for public hearings, roundtable discussions, forums and other public meetings and events
• Working with Albany and statewide staff to assist Senators and staff in drafting and analyzing legislation and policy
• Meeting with and building relationships with, relevant statewide and national stakeholders, advocacy, and constituency groups
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

Salary range is $60,000 to $80,000, commensurate with educational and professional experience.
