Polysomnographic Technician under the direction of a physician, administers various sleep studies in order to diagnose the type and extent of sleep disorders. Performs routine patient assessments, scores sleep records, documents other test results, and collects and transmits biological specimens for analysis. Being a Polysomnographic Technician typically requires an associate degree or its equivalent and certification as a Polysomnographic Technician. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. PSG Technologist works under the direction of the Medical Director. Responsible for obtaining standard and complex recording as well as special procedure polysomnographic recording and for monitoring additional physiological phenomena by means of appropriate techniques. This technologist must be willing to accept night split, weekend and day shifts. Will be required to proctor and teach trainees and technicians in all aspects of the skills required to progress their skill to the level of the technologist.
