Postdoctorate Scientist jobs in Tallahassee, FL

This position is for an Environmental Scientist who will support field surveys and subsequent reporting. We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist who is prepared to learn and grow their experience with marine and/or natural resources, and technical writing. One or more mentors will be assigned in order to provide field and office training to support growth and development. In this position, the candidate will be expected to follow company safety standards, participate in safety training, and prepare as well as implement site-specific health and safety plans. The desired candidate will be responsible for reviewing, understanding, and implementing site-specific work plans, scopes of work and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as well as supporting the preparation of various technical deliverables including reports, letters, proposals, tables, and figures.

Your Role:

• Working concurrently on several projects at one time, all of which may be at different phases of the project life.
• Supporting writing and review of technical reports.
• Potentially completing work/surveys outside of biological sciences (Utility Surveys, Water sampling, etc.).

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science along with 1-3 years’ relevant experience, including field work, is required. This experience may include pertinent academic curricula. Master’s degree in a related field is a plus.

• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented work environment.
• Ability to conduct field work safely.
• Excellent organization and oral/written communications skills is preferred.
• Ability to take clear and accurate field notes by hand or on a tablet/smartphone.
• Ability to program data collection templates desirable.
• Ability to prioritize a variety of assignments in time-critical situations.
• Ability to analyze available data and draw valid, defensible conclusions.
• A willingness to learn and be adaptable.
• Candidates must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs (i.e., Word, Excel, and Access or related database software).
• Schedule must have flexibility to travel (water, land or air), at times on short notice.
• The successful candidate must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Successfully pass a Department of Motor Vehicles background check by designated company automobile insurance carrier.
