    Tiger Solar is seeking a Senior PV System Design Engineer for their Boise, ID location. Be a leader within the Design & Engineering team, serving as a mentor for junior staff, and primarily responsible for supporting the Sales, Procurement, and Construction teams by producing design packages and providing engineering support for complex projects.

    Responsibilities
    • Support Sales and Business Development teams with proposal process by simulating solar PV array layouts and generating production estimates for prospective customers using tools such as TrueDesign, Scanifly, Helioscope, Google Earth, SketchUp, and PVWatts; as well as by providing occasional engineering support (e.g., specifying equipment, calculating wire size, determining interconnection method); and by producing guidance documents, as needed.
    • Develop Issued for Permit (IFP) and/or Issued for Construction (IFC) design packages for solar PV systems and battery energy storage systems (BESS) based on site survey data, Tiger Solar Design Standards and Best Practices, and contractual, code, and permitting requirements to include: site plan; zoning and fire access; array attachment, racking, PV module, stringing, and grounding layouts; electrical one-line diagram and calculations; critical loads panelboard schedule and usage profile; system labeling; and detail drawings, as applicable.
    • Coordinate with racking, inverter, battery, and data acquisition system (DAS) manufacturers to obtain construction drawings and PE-stamped letters, installation and operation manuals, technical briefs and service bulletins, and other information as required.
    • Coordinate with third-party engineering firms to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) stamps for structural and electrical designs as well as occasional energy usage estimates and arc flash studies.
    • Attend project-specific meetings with customers, subcontractors, vendors, AHJs, and utilities to address engineering issues, as needed.
    • Support Procurement and Construction teams by preparing bills of materials (BOMs), evaluating product technical data, obtaining quotes for balance of system (BOS) equipment, leading Design-to-Construction handoff meetings, and responding to field inquiries and requests.
    • Complete As-Built design packages to incorporate field and design changes.
    • Perform timely peer review of design packages and occasional simulations; submit all design packages for peer review and make corrections prior to providing to Construction team.
    • Serve as a lead technical resource for all departments for solar PV system and BESS design standards and best practices; interconnection methods; NEC, other relevant code, AHJ, and utility requirements; structural review; electrical calculations; equipment selection; and emerging industry technologies.
    • Train junior staff on all aspects of solar PV system and BESS design and engineering; serve as a professional mentor.
    • Assist with subcontractor and vendor selection process by assessing engineering competency, capability, and capacity.
    • Research emerging industry technologies and products, and evaluate for both suitability and ease of integration into company operations.
    • Maintain an organized file system for drawings and other project documents; adhere to standards and templates for uniformity in portfolio; collaborate with teammates to continuously improve internal design tools, templates, and processes.
    • Maintain technical expertise and certifications in current design technology and industry standards.
