    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Director of Natural Gas Compressor Packaging, an executive management position, is responsible for managing all aspects of J-W Power Company’s natural gas packaging operation. This position directly oversees four departments specific to the natural gas compression industry:  Engineering, Quality Control, Supply Chain and Actual Compressor Package Manufacturing Operations. Duties include continued improvement planning, optimizing growth and profitability, overall efficiency and product design, development and improvement.  This position maintains an understanding of competitive cost structure for the products and services provided, and, serves as the manufacturing organization’s liaison between other departments in order to build synergy within the Company.  This position is also responsible for safety and regulatory compliance, scheduling, manufacturing construction, staffing and employee development, and provides input on supplier NDA’s and is responsible for complying with the terms.     

    What unique institutional knowledge or relationships are inherent to the success of this position?

    Relationships:

    • Medium to high level relationships with major component suppliers for compressor packages; priorities are Ariel, Caterpillar and Cummins followed by package controls and cooler suppliers
    • Additional relationships with other suppliers, customers, peers and regulatory agencies is beneficial
    • Strong relationships with J-W Power Company Management team

    Knowledge:

    • Overall knowledge of natural gas compressor packaging operations is required to enable evaluation and improvement of all phases including quoting, design, procurement, fabrication, delivery and ongoing technical support.
    • Strong knowledge of component technical specifications and capabilities (engines and compressors)
    • General knowledge of the following topics is required and additional specific knowledge of the following may be required depending on the knowledge level of subordinates in the Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality Control departments:
      • ANSI piping B31.3 and B31.8 specifications
      • ASME Section VIII Division 1 & 2 Class 1 & 2 vessel standards
      • API processes
      • Electrical classifications
      • Compressor Packaging best practices
      • ERP/MRP systems supporting supply chain and inventory/distribution processes
      • Warranty, QA/QC and continuous improvement process

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  may include any or all of the following.  

    • Develop, communicate and implement policies, procedures and organizational structure for the manufacturing operations.
    • Plan, staff and supervise work activities to ensure a cohesive and productive working group.
    • Develop leaders and provide advice, guidance and direction for their professional development and successful achievement of stated goals and objectives.
    • Drive efficiency development, process review, strategic planning, customer service, QA programs and continuous improvement programs.
    • Coordinate management of construction/manufacturing projects between all parties involved.
    • Prepare and submit budgets and analyze cost of goods sold vs. quotation against market place price.
    • Control operating costs across all manufacturing operations.
    • Develop procedures and standards for operations, and, ensure that products conform to established customer and Company quality standards.
    • Serve on planning and policy-making committees and participate in long term strategic planning process.
    • Represent the Company externally to government agencies, customers, vendors, auditors and the general public for issues related to manufacturing operations.
    • Responsible for continuously expanding and updating professional knowledge and honing skills and competencies to enhance individual and team innovation and productivity.
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and support as well as promote a safe and environmentally clean work environment with emphasis on training personnel in safe work practices and efficient operational processes.
    • Direct and support the consistent implementation of Company initiatives.

    SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree in an Applied Science discipline, 10 years of natural gas compressor packaging industry related experience and/or training with 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role; or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
    • Advanced computer skills with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications.

    Certifications & Licenses:

    • Valid Driver’s License.
    • Professional Engineer (PE), preferred
