Ballard is seeking one Fuel Cell Test Technologist to join the Stack Test Engineering team in Burnaby, B.C.
The successful candidates will apply their strong technical skills to the development of next-generation fuel cell products by executing characterization and verification tests in Ballard’s world-class test lab, as well as assisting in the safe operation of the lab. Working closely with a team of technologists and engineers in our fast-paced environment, the goal is to advance Ballard’s broad line of fuel cell products and testing services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Executing fuel cell tests to evaluate the performance and durability of fuel cell stack designs
- Analyzing data using statistical tools
- Supporting the development and writing of test protocols, work instructions, test reports, and presentations including recommendations for continuous improvement
- Troubleshooting problems and optimizing test station configuration with lab equipment support team to ensure test objectives are achieved and high-quality data is delivered
- Maintaining a safe work environment; participating in hazard assessments and safety reviews
- Assisting in the day-to-day management of the laboratory facility and department operations
- Assisting in the training of new employees
Requirements:
- An Engineering Technologist Diploma or Associates Degree with 3-5 years of experience in a testing lab or similar technical environment is required
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
Assets:
- Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical equipment assembly and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of electrochemistry and experience with related instrumentation
- Experience in programming macros for automated control of test equipment and for data crunching and analysis
- Strong data analysis, data management and reporting skills
The typical hiring range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000. Ballard considers many factors in determining total compensation, including the successful Candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, position location, and internal equity.
