Power Plant Operations Manager manages and oversees the daily operations of a power generation plant. Monitors operations for efficiency and safety ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are followed. Being a Power Plant Operations Manager directs the implementation of preventative maintenance, emergency and operational plans and procedures. Ensures all applicable regulatory requirements are and safety protocols are followed. Additionally, Power Plant Operations Manager resolves problems and manages resources. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Power Plant Operations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Power Plant Operations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Executes plant shut-down and start ups, responds to alarms and equipment issues, coordinates maintenance and work with current plant conditions and commercial commitments. Responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning of equipment at a Gas Plant for the Gas fleet. Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation. Job Description Key Accountabilities: Inspects, repairs, and maintains various types of plant equipment May direct the work of employees Understands and is able to ensure proper operation of the plant. May be responsible for plant oversight in the absence of management Repairs and calibrates equipment Troubleshoots equipment and systems Develops and implements plant operating procedures Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE Actively trains others in area of expertise Performs technical work or analysis of processes in areas of expertise Gains knowledge of the entire plant cycle and how it functions Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements: Minimum 6 years of related experience Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent Demonstrate effective oral and verbal communications skills If applicable, candidate will hold the required level of state license as recognized by the governing body of that particular state (MA, OH) Must successfully pass the POSS/MASS exam prior to interview. Massachusetts Second Class Stationary Engineer License preferred. Key Metrics: Satisfactory completion of Tier 4 Job Performance Measures in primary job and satisfactory completion of Tier 2 Job Performance Measures in another skill.
