Power Plant Operations Shift Supervisor is responsible for the operations of a power generation plant during an assigned shift. Prepares work plans and worker assignments. Being a Power Plant Operations Shift Supervisor oversees the work of operating staff and trains new employees. Coordinates plans for service interruption, maintenance, repair, installation and overhauls. Additionally, Power Plant Operations Shift Supervisor ensures all safety protocols are followed. Documents equipment status and maintenance processes. Requires a high school diploma or technical school training. Typically reports to a manager. The Power Plant Operations Shift Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes.     Primary purpose:

    Responsible for the direct supervision of assigned field measurement technicians, the maintenance of assigned measurement facilities and related equipment, and the processing and reporting of measurement data for Tallgrass Energy pipelines.

     Note: *Multiple reporting locations will be considered at the hiring manager's discretion

     Essential duties and responsibilities:

    • Directly supervise and provide support for field measurement technicians within an assigned district. 
    • Set work schedules and delegate assignments for the measurement technicians. 
    • Coordinate training classes and opportunities for the measurement technicians.
    • Monitor the progress of daily measurement data processing to meet timelines.
    • Ensure accurate and timely closing of measurement data each month.  
    • Provide direct support for troubleshooting and repair of measurement issues leading to lost and unaccounted for product and pipeline segment imbalances.
    • Respond to requests from internal and external customers for measurement data information.  
    • Assist in the design and support of new measurement systems as well as changes and enhancements to existing measurement systems.
    • Work with the technical service manager and corporate measurement to help resolve complex measurement data issues and corrections.  
    • Conduct performance evaluations of direct reporting measurement technicians.
    • Develop short and long-range plans, goals and objectives for direct reporting measurement technicians.
    • Organize work, e.g. reporting and documentation, construction activities, etc., for timely completion.
    • Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, regulatory and company tariff requirements.
    • Respond to emergency situations at any hour of the day or night. This includes but not be limited to being in possession of required equipment and tools, designated forms, policies, regulations and manuals.
    • Foster a positive open work environment.
    • Manage personnel related matters including providing performance-based feedback, providing support and completing administrative paperwork as needed.

    Minimum requirements:

    Education:

    • Technical College degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related discipline.
    • A minimum of five (5) years direct work experience in gas pipeline system measurement operations, including prior supervisory may be considered as a substitute for a degree. 

    Experience/Specific Knowledge:

    • A minimum five (5) years working experience with measurement operations of gas pipeline systems.
    • A minimum of five (5) years with people and project coordination.  
    • Knowledge and experience in operation of pipeline, measurement, compressor, pump and all related equipment.
    • Knowledge and experience in the safe handling practices of flammable gases, and hazardous and highly volatile liquids.roficiency in MS Office applications including but not limited to Excel, Word, and Outlook.

     Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

    • Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
    • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage people at multiple locations and multiple tasks on a daily basis.
    • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.

    • Demonstrated ability to lead towards operational excellence.
    • Strong customer focus in dealing with engineering, field operations and other internal or external groups.

    Working Conditions:

    •  Living environs may be negotiable and will typically be[LK1]  within a 30-mile radius of the relevant reporting/work location.
    •  Frequent overnight travel may be required. 
    • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
    • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
