  • As an Outside Plant/Construction Supervisor for Kit Carson Internet, you will be responsible for supervising a team of Fiber Optic Technicians who install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fiber optics. Supervise the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optics for KCI. Driving a company owned vehicle to job sites will be required to carry out job functions. Inspect completed work of the Technicians and Contractors to ensure compliance and work is up to standard. Ensure all required training of self and staff is completed in accordance with KCI guidelines and timelines.

    • Organizes assigned areas of responsibility into efficiently functional sub-units and coordinates the attainment of operational goals and objectives.
    • Discusses and reviews trends, issues and influencing situations and matters within the context of the goals and objectives of the Board of Trustees.
    • Develops and administers operational plans and methods to meet the goals and objectives.
    • Develops and maintains a process of continuous quality assurance that promotes and fosters the reliability and integrity of the physical plant, the distribution system and all ancillary equipment.
    • Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs all activities relating to construction, repair and maintenance work and projects, including, but not limited to physical equipment and materials.
    • Performs all activities relating to the training, supervision, promotion, evaluation, and discipline of subordinate employees.
    • Maintains, or oversees, the maintenance of all logs, records, reports and other documents necessary.
    • Single point of contact for managing underground/aerial construction teams and subcontractors.
    • Basic smartphone and computer skills
    • All other duties as needed.

    What you bring:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico motor vehicle operator’s license and a driving record that permits coverage under the Cooperative’s vehicle insurance policy.
    • Five years of journey level experience in fiber installation, repair, and maintenance.
    • One year of supervisory experience.
    • Certified in fiber optics splicing, preferred.
    • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
    • Knowledge of telecommunication cabling standards and basic electrical codes.
    • Experience with different mapping (GIS) systems.
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English), preferred.
