    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Directly supervise and coordinate activities of horticultural workers involved with planting, production, and shipping activities. This is a collaborative company in which we all work together to achieve our goals. There will be times when you may be asked to lend a hand outside of your main responsibilities.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    This position may involve any of the following:

    • Supervisor Responsibilities
      • Performance Management of employees
      • Scheduling of employees in alignment with operation's needs.
      • Prepare and maintain time or payroll reports, as well as details of personnel actions, such as performance evaluations, hires, promotions, or disciplinary actions.
      • Payroll responsibilities to ensure hours are accurate for timely biweekly payroll.
      • Observe workers to detect inefficient or unsafe work procedures or to identify problems, initiating corrective action as necessary.
      • Liaison on Safety Committee for The Plant Company
      • Estimate labor requirements for jobs and plan work schedules accordingly.
      • Communication with Crew Leaders
      • Communication with other teams and departments
      • Confer with managers to develop plans or procedures, or to discuss issues such as changes in work processes.
      • Review employees' work to evaluate quality and quantity.
      • Train workers in techniques such as planting and harvesting.
      • Oversee tugger and forklift certification adherence and compliance.
      • Read inventory records, customer orders, planting, spacing, or shipping schedules to determine required activities.
      • Drive or operate farm machinery, such as forklifts and tugs, to transport plants or supplies.
      • Maintain overall housekeeping plan and principles for each area you oversee to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
      • Ensure all employees follow all safety protocols.
      • Accountable to paperwork and reporting daily metrics on "TPC - Daily Productivity Tracking" spreadsheet to Plant Manager, COO, and CEO by end of workday.
      • Participation in daily planning and operations meetings with feedback. Feedback includes but is not limited to staffing levels, attendance, roadblocks, shipping accuracy or errors, etc.
      • Maintain WPS compliance ensuring all employees are certified with worker or handler training.
      • Mediate and ensure amicable radio communication and instructions between all Leads among teams overseen.
    • Grading
      • Oversee the team responsible for grading the plants according to size in applicable compartments before transferring them.
      • Ensure team output is at or above expected productivity metrics.
      • Act as liaison between greenhouse and grading teams to facility timely delivery of plants to work area.
      • Oversee preventative sanitary measures being performed daily.
      • Coordinate with greenhouse team to have completed trays returned to growing rooms in a timely manner.
      • Ensure accuracy of paperwork and submit correct totals for inventory after the grading process has been completed.
      • Obtain metrics for grading to ensure data entry of metrics daily in the Weekly Productivity Tracking Report for COO
    • Sticking & Finishing
      • Ensure all schedules and proper paperwork are distributed to the correct line.
      • Maintain current knowledge of current map of greenhouse for set down locations.
      • Assist with machine operation - troubleshooting repairs, communication with Facilities Coordinator. Inspect facilities to determine maintenance needs.
      • Ensure you have the proper staff trained to operate mobile equipment for efficient operations.
      • Provide clear instructions for setting down locations on finished production items.
      • Remain cognizant of inventory levels that may result in shortages and minimum thresholds with the utilization of Business Central (BC).
      • Coordinate with the Greenhouse Supervisor regarding routing and availability that will impact efficient usage of the WPS conveyor belt system.

    REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Attention to detail and high-quality standards.
    • Positive attitude and teamwork approach to get tasks done.
    • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and work with team towards a solution.
    • Ability to determine causes of operating errors and decide what to do about them.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Prior safety management experience
    • Bilingual- Spanish/English required.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • High school graduate, or equivalent
      • Associate degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Excellent organizational, communication, time management, decision-making, and people skills
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

    Must be able to bend, twist, turn, climb, pull, lift, and carry up to fifty-five (55) pounds frequently throughout the workday.
