  • A Horizontal Directional Drill Bore Operator is responsible for installing underground conduit and dry utilities. This position implements all directional drilling plans and procedures according to company plan. Ensures compliance of all drilling operations of rig site and objectives.RequirementsManages all well bore paths and rate of penetration, checking gauges and listening to equipment to assess drilling conditions and adjust drilling or alter equipment in accordance with company and industry standardsAssists with the install of proper pulling gear and hook up productSets up equipment to include: the drill, alarm, water tanks and grounding the machineMaintains records of all data and prepares required documentationDiagnoses and maintains company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines to ensure efficiency in maintenance of all company assets and locationsCommunicates continuously with HDD Locator to confirm location of the drill headProvides required training to all trainees and field staff, assesses performance, and administers all drilling operationsCollaborates with various departments to manage workflows for all projects, ensures adequate supplies, productivity, safety, and prepares schedules for all projectsCommunicates and represents the organization to clients, the public, government, and other external sourcesConducts post-job quality checksCleans, checks fluid levels and conducts a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, performs the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required paperwork, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipmentUtilizes defensive driving practicesOperates truck in a manner that ensures compliance with all applicable company, state and federal safety regulationsFollows required company and DOT reporting proceduresMaintains paperwork during the day including DVIR and driver’s log bookEnsures the truck has current licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insuranceCompetent in operating Vermeer horizontal directional drillsCompetent in operating locating systems such as F-2, F-5 and F-5 FlaconPerform simple math for accuracy of drilling and locating.Analyze job locations for utility lines, permitting, and traffic control in order to complete construction activities without quality defects, safety incidents or any type of property damageComplete daily inspections and reporting of maintenance issues on vehicles, trailers and equipmentComplete bore logs and daily completion forms accurately and legiblyOperate all vehicles, equipment and tools while adhering to company safety standardsCandidate must be willing to travel out of town to work.Experience2-3 years of drill operating experience preferred2-5 years of experience in the construction, underground or telecom industry.CDL Class A license with tanker endorsement preferredValid DOT Medical Card required
